Site Preparation

How to Prepare for Your Delivery

For all of our buildings at Backyard Creations we require a firm, level area on which to place the building. We build all of our structures with pressure treated 4×4’s attached  to the underside of the floor.

This allows for the smaller 6′ wide or 8′ wide buildings to be placed directly on the ground. The treated 4×4’s allow air to flow under the floor to keep it dry.

Crushed Stone

A base of 4 inch thick 1/2” crushed stone is an excellent base for any building. We recommend digging out the grass to keep the stone at ground level for a smaller step into the building and an easier installation of the building for the delivery person. Use a 2×4 or another straight edge to grade the stone till the area is level.

Concrete Blocks

If your structure is 8 feet wide or smaller you can set the building on concrete blocks. In order to avoid a large step into the building use 2 or 4 inch blocks or dig out the ground so the blocks are ground level. Place the blocks in two rows 6 feet apart in order for the 4×4’s to sit directly on them.

Concrete Pad

A 4 to 5 inch thick concrete pad is ideal base for our larger buildings. The pad should be the same size as the actual building.

We at Backyard Creations do not prepare building foundations over 50 miles from our location. If you need assistance we recommend contacting a local landscaping company to prepare the site.
